Vale Peter Milling

Prominent regional NSW racing figure Peter Milling has died at the age of 95.

Milling was a fourth-generation stock and station agent and dedicated more than 70 years to the advancement of livestock marketing, thoroughbred sales and racing across Central West NSW.

His leadership helped grow the Milling agencies into a business that has now been operating for 110 years.

Milling was a respected leader in thoroughbred breeding and racing, spending 37 years as head of the Bloodhorse Breeders Association.

He also played a pivotal role in the development of the Dubbo Sale Yards and for 74 years was a trusted rural voice through his weekly 2DU broadcast, connecting and informing regional communities.

A devoted family man, Milling’s lifelong service to the community, leadership and philanthropy were recognised with the award of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
