Haggas star pencilled in for annual autumn pilgrimage to Sydney
English stayer Dubai Honour is set to return to Australia this autumn with the goal of defending his Tancred Stakes title and pursuing a second Queen Elizabeth Stakes victory.
Trainer William Haggas confirmed the international star will make his third trip to Sydney, with stablemate Caviar Heights also under consideration for a shot at the autumn’s top-level races.
Both horses could line up in the $5 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick on April 11, giving Haggas a strong hand in the weight-for-age race.
Dubai Honour has already established himself as a three-time Group 1 winner in Australia, taking out the Ranvet Stakes and Queen Elizabeth Stakes during his first campaign in 2023.
He returned last year to claim victory in the Tancred Stakes before finishing a close second to Via Sistina in the Queen Elizabeth.
Haggas plans to follow a similar path this year, while Caviar Heights may contest the Ranvet Stakes before the Queen Elizabeth.
