Cannington greyhounds track shut down as Racing WA launches investigation

Racing at Perth’s main greyhound track Cannington has been indefinitely suspended after a series of serious incidents which prompted Racing WA Stewards to suspend Wednesday’s race meeting halfway through.

The decision followed significant injuries to four greyhounds, with two having to be euthanised

Racing WA has commenced a comprehensive review of the incidents, with racing and trialling at Cannington suspended until the investigation is complete.

Stewards reported the track surface remained within racing parameters throughout the meeting.

Saturday’s scheduled Cannington program has been transferred to Mandurah.
