Coolmore secures Lordan for Wodeton mount in Newmarket

Coolmore will fly in Irish jockey Wayne Lordan to ride Wodeton in the $2 million Newmarket Handicap at Flemington.

The mount was originally set for Hong Kong jockey Karis Teetan, but he remains in Dubai due to the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Lordan, a lightweight rider frequently employed by champion trainer Aidan O’Brien, will travel via the United States to reach Melbourne.

Wodeton is yet to secure a Group 1 victory and will carry 50kg in the famous sprint on Saturday.

The Chris Waller-trained colt was runner-up in last year’s Golden Slipper but has been winless in five appearances as a three-year-old.

Lordan last rode in Australia when second in the 2025 Melbourne Cup aboard Goodie Two Shoes.
