Abounding has been promoted to favouritism for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas after a last-stride win at Eagle Farm.

Overcoming jockey Martin Harley's concerns about the impact a Brisbane storm during the meeting would have on her chances, Abounding rallied strongly to claim the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) for three-year-old fillies.

Sent out favourite at $2.70, Abounding put in a late drive to take out the $200,000 race, a main lead-up to the $3 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 13.

The Rich Enuff filly finished second in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben on December 2 and Harley was relieved to go one better.

"She was gutsy," Harley said. "Everything I asked of her, she kept finding but I forgot how long the straight is here."

Abounding holds the call as Guineas favourite at $7 and trainer Robert Heathcote left it open that the filly may have another start in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) at Doomben on December 30 before heading to the Gold Coast.

"Martin never had a lot of luck in the last run when she was heavily backed," he added" Heathcote said.

"She was heavily backed again today and I don't want it over again but she's won, won a Listed race, and she's going super."

Abounding won by a short head over the Toowoomba-trained Avone ($17) with Show Me Mercy ($5) a head away in third.
