Alana Livesey named Dux of 2025 SA Apprentice Academy

Alana Livesey has been crowned Dux of the SA Apprentice Academy, headlining the 2025 Racing SA Apprentice Academy Awards held at Morphettville.

The accolade caps a standout season for Livesey, who will undertake a study tour to Hong Kong as part of Racing SA’s long‑standing international partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Her year included a Listed Premier’s Plate victory aboard Wild Imagination for trainer David Page – her 50th metropolitan win and second Listed success.

She also claimed the Minister for Racing Ride of the Year and the SA Jockeys Association Endeavour & Sportsmanship Award, reflecting her professionalism and commitment to horse welfare.

“This is a much-deserved recognition for Alana. The way she has overcome challenges whilst maintaining consistency in both her work ethic and performance is a true credit to her resilience and undeniable talent,” Apprentice Academy Talent Manager, Ruby Mayers, said.

Fellow rider Taylor Johnstone, who notched multiple Black‑Type wins in 2025, was named Dux Runner‑Up.

Racing SA currently supports 22 apprentices, including 10 metropolitan‑licensed riders, operating out of its purpose‑built Somerton Park facility opened in 2024.
