The home of Aquis’ thoroughbred empire near Canungra on the Gold Coast is part of plans for a 742-hectare housing development, with community consultation on the possible project announced this week.

The massive project has been named Canungra360 and is being led by a consortium of private landowners, including the Fung family, who own Aquis, and have had a thoroughbred farm in the region for nine years.
The proposal covers approximately 742 hectares of privately owned land, located 4km north of Canungra township, along Beaudesert–Nerang Road.
“The Canungra North Strategic Vision offers a proactive response to key regional challenges, including sustainable growth, housing affordability, limited education infrastructure, and growing demand for eco- and lifestyle tourism,” the project website says.

The group is holding consultations on potential rezoning and land use, although a timeline for any project has not yet been established.
“Progress remains subject to community feedback and relevant approvals,” it said.
In addition to housing and retail spaces, provisions will also be made for a primary and high school, should the project proceed.
Aquis’ current base is at the northern end of the proposed project. The nearby Elysian Fields equestrian area would be retained.
The Canungra farm was purchased by Tony Fung in 2015, having previously been owned by Nathan Tinkler’s Patinack Farm. Aquis began standing stallions in 2016 and will have a roster of seven sires serving in 2025.
