While much was made about the new faces bidding at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this week, what was also notable was the absence of the biggest investors in Australian racing over the past five years.

There is still no update from Victorian Racing Minister Anthony Carbines as to who will fill the two - soon to be three - vacant positions on the Racing Victoria board.

A record-breaking Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale set new marks for sale average, highest-priced lot and median, with the final day dominated by the $10 million yearling daughter of champion mare Winx.

Simon Miller-trained filly Petula has been selected in Sky Racing’s slot to run in The Quokka and will tackle her high-profile stablemate Amelia’s Jewel in the $5 million race on April 20.

Widden Stud’s Zoustar enjoyed a marquee first day at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, with four of the top six lots, including a filly and a colt which sold for $2.2 million and $1.9 million respectively.

John Singleton may have sold off his Strawberry Hill operation last year, but his love of the track saw him make his first Easter Yearling Sale purchase in seven years.
