Former professional punter Darren Azzopardi has launched his new corporate bookmaking business, BearBet.

BearBet launched on Tuesday, helmed by Azzopardi, who previously has been a well-known professional punter on both greyhounds and thoroughbred racing.

Registered in New South Wales, the new operator has utilised its own tech and software, working with Apollo Tech, to bring the new product to life. According to its founder, it has taken around two years to bring to life.

Azzopardi has stated he wants BearBet to be “the first bookmaker run by a former professional punter who understands what punters want and expect”.

It is intended to be racing-focused, but it also offers a range of options across sports betting.

BearBet is licensed by Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission (GWIC) and regulated by NSW Liquor & Gaming.

Australia has over 100 corporate bookmakers, with the majority registered in the Northern Territory.
