Leading trainer Bjorn Baker will not leave his trip to the Arqana August Yearling Sale empty handed, after buying the half-brother to his multiple Group 1 winner Arapaho at the French sale.

Baker paid €200,000 (AU$360,000) for the colt by New Bay out of Alzubra, who is also the dam of Australian Group 3 winner Athabascan.
The Australian-based trainer is in France along with a host of stable clients and bloodstock agent Jim Clarke, who also signed for the New Bay colt along with Lynch Bloodstock.

It was a low-key to the European yearling sales season with 71 yearlings going through the ring, and 51 sold. They cleared €11,750,000 at an average of €230,392, slightly up last year, and a median of €200,000.
A filly by first-season sire Baeeed was equal top of proceedings, selling to Shira'aa Racing for €800,000, while a Lope De Vega colt matched that result.
