Brightside’s brother set for Begg

The final foal from Mr Brightside’s dam Lilahjay is set to follow the multiple Group 1 winner’s footsteps to Victoria but will join the stables of Grahame Begg, not Lindsay Park.

The Satono Aladdin colt was offered by Wentwood Grange on the second day of the  New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale at Karaka and was snapped by racing manager Rohan Hughes and Begg for $260,000.

Lilahjay died in 2024 soon after delivering the colt. All six of her foals to race have been winners, with Mr Brightside having won 20 races, 10 of them at Group 1 level.

Mr Brightside is currently recovering from surgery for a small chip will has ruled him out of the 2026 autumn carnival.
