Brisbane Group 1 sprints a target for Private Harry

Principal sprint races towards the start of the Queensland winter carnival have been earmarked as a 2026 return for spring casualty Private Harry.

Private Harry is set to arrive at premier trainer Chris Waller’s stable in early February as he continues a rehabilitation program at a NSW pre-training centre.

The entire, raced in partnership by syndicator Kurrinda Bloodstock and industry superpower Yulong, missed his opportunity to contest the $20 million Everest because of injury.

Under Newcastle trainer Nathan Doyle, Private Harry burst onto the scene 12 months ago with a string of wins, culminating in his victory in the Group 1 Galaxy during the Sydney autumn carnival.

“He will do further work on the aqua walker and treadmill, and then have three weeks under saddle before joining Chris Waller’s team at Rosehill Gardens,” Kurrinda’s Sean Driver told provincialracingnsw.com.au.

Two Group 1 features in Brisbane have been circled as potential targets for Private Harry: the Doomben 10,000 on May 16 and the Kingsford Smith Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight later.
