Caballus to run for Harron partnership in Everest
The Everest field is all but complete, with James Harron Bloodstock securing Newmarket Handicap-winning sprinter Caballus for next week’s $20 million race.
The Bjorn Baker-trained Caballus will join his stablemate Blue Door in The Everest with Harron and his partners, who have supported the race as a slot holder since its inception a decade ago, coming to terms with the gelding’s owner, syndicator Darby Racing.
The decision leaves Yulong as the sole slot holder yet to confirm its runner in the 2026 edition, but it is expected that the Zhang Yuesheng-owned empire will side with last-start Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Angel Capital.
Caballus resumed from his Group 1-winning autumn campaign, which culminated in an unplaced ruin Perth’s The Quokka slot race, with a fifth behind Tempted and Savvy Hallie in last Saturday’s Premiere Stakes.
Ka Ying Rising remains the $1.30 favourite after finishing runner-up in a barrier trial at Randwick on Tuesday when narrowly beaten by Ninja, another Everest contender.
