Cambridge Stud commits entire 2027 yearling crop to Karaka

Cambridge Stud has confirmed will sell 100 per cent of its yearling stock at the 2027 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale, returning to Karaka with its full draft for a second consecutive year.

The 101st National Yearling Sale will be held from January 24 to 28, retaining the condensed format introduced for the centenary edition. NZB’s selection team has inspected almost 2,000 yearlings across New Zealand as it assembles the catalogue.

“The selections process is in full swing and our team has been busy inspecting almost 2,000 yearlings across the country,” NZB Managing Director Andrew Seabrook said.

Cambridge Stud also sent its entire yearling draft to Karaka in 2026, having offered some stock through Australian sales in earlier seasons.

The draft included the centenary sale’s top lot, a Sword Of State colt out of Las Brisas bought by Sanxiong Gao and Ciaron Maher Bloodstock for NZ$1.1 million. Cambridge Stud also collected its 34th leading vendor title.

Turnover exceeded NZ$96 million in the finalised 2026 results. That was nearly NZ$10 million higher than in 2025, even with 79 fewer horses in the catalogue.

Cambridge Stud first sold at the National Yearling Sale at Trentham in 1978 under Sir Patrick Hogan, offering yearlings from Sir Tristram’s first crop. The stud is now led by Sir Brendan and Lady Jo Lindsay.
