The Bjorn Baker-trained Overpass has drawn in barrier 10 as he aims to make it a three-peat in the $5 million 2025 Kia Quokka, to be run this Saturday.

Overpass is unbeaten in his four starts in Perth, including two Group 1 1200m Winterbottom Stakes wins and is the current $2.30 favourite in Ladbrokes Final Field Quokka market.

The Matt Smith trained Headwall, a winner of four of his 16 starts is a $6 second favourite and has drawn in barrier 8. He comes into the Quokka off the back of three strong runs including a fast finishing first up fourth in the Oakleigh Plate before again finishing strongly when second to Joliestar in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap.

At his most recent start, Headwall finished third in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick over 1200m behind winner Briasa and second placed Overpass.  Fellow New South Wales trained galloped Front Page is at $8 after his second in the Group 1 Galaxy.

There’s also a host of local WA gallopers looking to secure a Quokka win headlined by the Grant & Alana Williams trained Western Empire who will head to the race first up off a recent trial win and at his last race appearance in December he won the $1.5 million Gold Rush over 1400m.

Local WA trainer Simon Miller has twice finished second in The Quokka with Amelia’s Jewel in 2023 and 2024. He has three runners in this year’s race and will be hoping that untapped West Star to go one better this year.

The lightly raced West Star has won four of his six starts including an impressive first up win earlier this month. Miller’s other runners include six-year-old gelding Magnificent Andy and four-year-old mare Generosity.

Western Australia’s richest race to be held on Saturday, 26 April 2025 will be made available across all Racing.com platforms, including free-to-air Channels 68 and 78, Foxtel Channel 529, Racing.com’s website and app, as well as digital streaming services 7plus and Kayo.
