Chelsey Stewart takes reins as Resolute Racing CEO
Chelsey Stewart has been appointed chief executive of Resolute Racing, taking over from her husband and company founder John Stewart.
“I am honoured to share that Chelsey will be taking over the role of CEO of Resolute Racing,” John Stewart said.
“From the outset, she has been deeply involved and instrumental in the success of our operations, originally as director of breeding and bloodstock and more recently as chief operating officer. Chelsey is one of the rising stars in the horse racing industry. Chelsey has proven to be both an exceptional horsewoman and a strong organisational leader.”
John Stewart, who launched private equity firm MiddleGround Capital in 2018 and manages more than US$4 billion in assets, said his focus remains on his investment business.
“My primary focus has always been on managing MiddleGround Capital and the investments managed by its various funds,” he said.
“This change in roles at Resolute is meant to clarify the role Chelsey has served since inception. My role is limited to supporting and advising her and the team on strategic direction and decisions.”
With horses in training principally in America as well as Europe and Australia, Resolute Racing remains a family-run operation, with John’s children, Andrew and Sarah, also taking on leadership roles.
