NSW Fair Trading confirmed it had received a complaint alleging the NSW Trainers Association (NSWTA) may have mishandled the distribution of proceeds from a charity event held last year for the benefit of the Mark Hughes Foundation.

It is believed Fair Trading is also investigating whether the NSWTA held the appropriate authorisations to stage the fundraising element of the sportsmen’s lunch, which was staged at Randwick racecourse in August.

“Following a complaint, NSW Fair Trading is undertaking an investigation in relation to a NSW Trainers Association fundraising activity,” a NSW Fair Trading spokesperson said in a statement provided to The Straight.
