Darmanin sidelined after trackwork spill
Tasmanian premiership-winning jockey Anthony Darmanin is facing an extended stint on the sidelines after being injured in a trackwork fall in Victoria.
Darmanin sustained a compound fracture to his T12 vertebra after being dislodged from his mount during morning work on Tursday.
The setback comes at thea difficult time for Darmanin, who had been booked for several upcoming feature rides, including meetings in Launceston on Friday night.
Darmanin had been enjoying another strong season, with 28 winners placing him third on the current Tasmanian premiership table.
His absence further thins the Tasmanian riding ranks, with Kelvin Sanderson sidelined following melanoma surgery and apprentice Jackson Radley having transferred his apprenticeship to Victoria late last year.
