Nacim Dilmi, the long-time assistant to trainer James Cummings at Randwick and later Godolphin, is off the mark in his own right.

Appointed as Domeland's private trainer in late July, which coincided with Godolphin's decision to disperse its large racing team into public stables, Dilmi's Aix En Provence won the Midway Benchmark 68 (1600m) at Gosford on Friday.

The five-year-old gelding, who started the $3.30 favourite, was Dilmi's 10th runner since taking charge from Sara Ryan in early August.

Aix En Provence was ridden by Zac Lloyd, who was apprenticed to Godolphin and Cummings until he came out of his time last November.

Domeland, which is the Australian racing and breeding operation of Chinese businessman YP Cheng and his son King, has stables at Wyong racecourse as well as a farm at nearby Kulnura.

Ryan has elected to become a public trainer based at Wyong.
