Phoenix Thoroughbreds’ founder Amer Abdulaziz may currently be serving 15 months in an American jail, but that didn’t stop a horse under his ownership grabbing a chunk of prize money at Flemington last Saturday.

The prize money for leading spring contender Navy Pilot has been frozen, with the promising three-year-old still listed as racing under the name of a company owned by a convicted money launderer.
Navy Pilot, trained by Ciaron Maher, was narrowly beaten in Saturday’s Poseidon Stakes at Flemington and holds entries for the Golden Rose and the Caulfield Guineas.
