Entries closing for Inglis weanling sales

Entries are closing for the 2026 Inglis Weanling Sales Series after a record-breaking year in which $29.4 million was traded across the Australian Weanling Sale and the Great Southern Weanling Sale.

Inglis said turnover at its weanling sale series had risen 28.3 per cent since 2023.

Graduates of the series in recent seasons include stakes performers Well Written, Streisand, Hayasugi, Kimochi, Straight Charge, Shiki and Calamari Ring.

Inglis Bloodstock chief executive Sebastian Hutch said he expected further growth in 2026, highlighting strong interest in the first crops of sires including Shinzo, Cylinder, Ozzmosis, King’s Gambit, Mo’unga and Native Trail.

“If we had one regret at the conclusion of what was a hugely successful set of weanling sales last year, it was that we didn’t have enough really good foals to satisfy the demand of pinhookers in particular,” Hutch said.

“There is no arguing that the buying bench Inglis assembles for our weanling sales is without peer – last year alone there was not only exceptionally strong domestic participation but also buyers from New Zealand, Hong Kong, the UK, Ireland, China, Japan, South Africa, the Philippines etc.”

The Australian Weanling Sale will be held at Riverside on May 4 and 5, with the Great Southern Weanling Sale scheduled for Oaklands Junction on June 12.
