The NSW government has opened expressions of interest for two possible vacancies on the Racing NSW board.
In a notice published on Thursday, the Office of Racing asked for EOIs from “persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a member of Racing NSW”.
It said that Minister for Gaming and Racing, David Harris, had established a selection panel process to identify suitable candidates.
The terms of two candidates, Tony Shepherd and Garry Charny, are set to expire on December 19.
Shepherd last had his terms extended in 2022, while Charny’s term was extended by a year last year.
“The selection panel appointed to undertake the selection process will consider EOIs based on merit, taking into account a candidate’s abilities, qualifications experience and personal attributes relevant to the performance of the duties of membership of Racing NSW,” the statement said.
All candidates must undergo probity tests from an appointed Probity Advisor.

Remuneration for Racing NSW Members is currently set at $76,000 per annum, along with reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
Any appointed board members of Racing NSW are ineligible to vote as a member in the following organisations: Provincial Racing Association of NSW, Racing NSW Country, NSW Jockeys’ Association, NSW Trainers’ Association, Thoroughbred Breeders NSW, NSW Racehorse Owners’ Association and Unions NSW.
