Finalists announced for 2025 Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) has unveiled the finalists for the 2025 Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards, including Ted Noffey and Sovereignty, both by Into Mischief, and Japanese-bred Forever Young (Real Steel).

Winners across 17 horse and human categories will be revealed during the 55th Annual Eclipse Awards, presented by John Deere, The Jockey Club, and the NTRA, on January 22.

The ceremony, broadcast on FanDuel TV and other outlets, will culminate with the announcement of Horse of the Year.

Of 240 eligible voters, 22 participated in the balloting, which uses a 10-5-1 point system to determine finalists. Winners are decided solely by first-place votes.

Key categories include Two-Year-Old Male (Brant, Gstaad, Ted Noffey), Three-Year-Old Male (Baeza, Journalism, Sovereignty), and Older Dirt Male (Forever Young, Nysos, Sierra Leone). Human honours feature leading trainers Chad Brown, Brad Cox and Bill Mott, while Irad Ortiz Jr, Flavien Prat and John Velazquez headline the jockey category.

Horse of the Year finalists will be announced live during the event. Additionally, Dan Piazza will receive the Eclipse Award as 2025 Horseplayer of the Year, alongside media awards in six categories.
