First-season sires Farnan and Hanseatic recorded important NSW provincial winners on Thursday with talented two-year-olds Commanding Belle and Sea Admiral.

Farnan filly Commanding Belle, who was tried in stakes grade last preparation, backed up her solid first-up third by defeating older horses in a 1300m maiden at Kembla Grange.

Trained by Robert and Luke Price, the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale graduate is the 11th individual first crop winner for Kia Ora Stud’s Golden Slipper-winning sire Farnan.

Two races later, in a 1000m two-year-old maiden, the John Thompson-trained Sea Admiral resumed with a narrow win to provide Rosemont Stud sire Hanseatic with his fourth first-crop success.

Sea Admiral, who was bred by Doug Walker, was sold for $20,000 as a weanling before being resold by Carrington Park Stud for $70,000 to Thompson at last year’s Inglis Classic sale.

Hanseatic will stand for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) this year while Farnan has had his fee set at $77,000.
