The outstanding career of one of Tasmania’s most popular racehorses will be honoured with the Tasmanian Stakes to be known as The Inevitable Stakes in 2025/26.
Twice named Tasmanian horse of the year, The Inevitable amassed $2.17 million in a 44-start career that delivered 18 victories.
The son of Dundeel, purchased for $90,000 as a Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale graduate, claimed the 2023 and 2024 Tasmanian Stakes, a weight-for-age race run over 1600 metres at Listed level.
He was euthanised after sustaining a serious injury while contesting the Hellova Street Stakes during this year’s Launceston Cup meeting.
“He was a great racehorse and it’s important to honour Tasmania’s best, so we’re really pleased to be a part of this change,” Tasmanian Racing Club chairman Andrew Scanlon said.
The Inevitable Stakes will be on Friday, December 28, in Hobart.
