Experienced harness executive David Brick will take charge of the three codes of racing in Queensland.
Having headed up harness racing at Racing Queensland for the past seven years, Brick has been appointed as the regulator’s general manager - racing and his promotion will take effect from January 20. He replaces Adam Wallish who retired in July.
“I was bitten by the racing bug the day I drew Kiwi in the (Melbourne) Cup,” Brick said.
“I have since progressed this passion to include ownership across the three codes, as well as working in a variety of roles across the industry.
“I look forward to working with clubs, participants, punters, business partners and other stakeholders to service, innovate and continue to grow racing throughout Queensland.”
In recent years, Brick has been credited with introducing and enhancing a number of new initiatives including broadcasting, Trot Rods and the upcoming Ultimate Drivers Series.
He was also pivotal in the return of the Inter Dominion to Queensland that will now call the Sunshine State home for the next three years.
Prior to joining RQ, Brick spent five years as the CEO of Victorian Harness Racing Clubs and he worked in a variety of roles at Harness Racing Victoria for more than a decade prior to that.
RQ CEO Jason Scott was pleased to have Brick take responsibility for thoroughbred, greyhound and harness racing in the state.
“David Brick is an impressive individual who has shown firsthand his willingness and capability to innovate during his time at RQ,” Scott said.
“We look forward to him bringing that same enthusiasm to thoroughbred and greyhound racing.”
RQ will soon start recruiting to fill the position vacated by Brick.
