One of the last slotholders to make a call on its representative, Godolphin has put its faith in the three-year-old filly at the expense of Group 1-winning colt Beiwacht.

Beiwacht, a brilliant winner of the Golden Rose at his most recent start, will be sent to the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington in a bid to further increase his appeal as a future stallion.

Craig Williams will ride Tempted in The Everest, as he looks to a third victory in four years in the race.

Tempted will become the fourth filly of her age to contest the Everest, following Tulip and She Will Reign in 2017 and Lady Of Camelot in 2024.

Lady Of Camelot has been the best-performed in finishing a close fourth to Bella Nipotina.

When trained by James Cummings, Tempted raced at the top level as a two-year-old with her record including a luckless Golden Slipper placing and a Group 2 win against her own kind during The Championships at Randwick.

Trial and error - Purton, Hayes say improvement to come from ‘agitated’ Ka Ying Rising
Hong Kong champion and The Everest’s main drawcard Ka Ying Rising has finished third in a Sydney barrier trial in an important dress rehearsal ahead of his $20 million task on Saturday week.

Switched to Ciaron Maher, Tempted has been impossible to fault in two starts for her new trainer.

She defeated her male rivals when resuming in the Group 2 Run To The Rose and lost nothing when filling the minor placing behind Beiwacht in the Golden Rose.

Under the weight-for-age conditions of The Everest, Tempted will carry 51kg.

Godolphin will be chasing its first Everest win, but Sheikh Mohammed’s racing empire has supplied three placegetters - Osborne Bulls (2018), Trekking (2019) and Bivouac (2020).

Maher, after back-to-back Everest wins, will also be represented by Jimmysstar who runs from the TAB slot.
