Gold Coast Turf Club officials are adopting a cautious approach to course proper racing ahead of a city-class meeting in September.

A meeting scheduled for September 13 has been switched to the club’s polytrack.

“The transfer is to ensure the track is given the standard week’s rest prior to the Pink Ribbon metropolitan meeting,” Racing Queensland said in a statement.

Gold Coast will host the premier card of racing in Queensland on September 20, highlighted by the $105,000 Pink Ribbon Cup.

The trials and tribulations of Gold Coast’s new course proper have been well documented over the past 18 months but it has been hosting several meetings over the winter, the most recent on August 2.
