Harness Racing NZ CEO quits to return to Australia

Harness Racing New Zealand (HRNZ) has confirmed chief executive Brad Steele has resigned and will finish in the role on April 24 before returning to Australia.

Steele has led the organisation for nearly two years, during which time he oversaw efforts to increase HRNZ’s visibility and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.

The HRNZ board said it remained committed to delivering the organisation’s strategy and would work with the senior leadership team to maintain continuity while a replacement is appointed.

An update on any changes to responsibilities within HRNZ will be provided as the recruitment process progresses.

From April 28, business-related matters will be directed to Liz Bishop, while racing and wagering matters will be handled by Matthew Peden.

HRNZ chair Grant Jarrold thanked Steele for his contribution and leadership and wished him well on his return to Australia.
