Four weeks out from the first two-year-old stakes races of the season and Coolmore’s Home Affairs leads the first-season stallions when it comes to the number of his juvenile progeny currently named.
The Breeders’ Plate and Gimcrack Stakes are scheduled at Randwick on October 4, the same day as the Maribyrnong Trial is run at Flemington. The first official two-year-old trials in Sydney are scheduled for September 22.

Home Affairs, who at 144 had the biggest crop of foals, has 42 two-year-olds currently named, three more than Newgate’s Stay Inside, who has a crop of 116.
Among Home Affairs' named horses are Coral and Coveted Affair, the daughter of Group 1 winners Red Tracer, Nechita and Fair Shake, who is out of Srikandi. The Home Affairs half-brother to Saturday’s McNeil Stakes winner Tycoon Star has been named Marffiano.
St Mark’s Basilica has 29 named two-year-olds, three more than Palace Pier, while Pinatubo has 23.
Only three of the progeny of first-season sires have officially trialled, with all three in New Zealand, headlined by Captivant’s trial winner in Capital Express.
