Sports media mogul Craig Hutchison will axe Victorian radio network RSN’s daily breakfast and racing news shows among a suite of changes to be made when Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) assumes ownership of the station from September.

The long-running breakfast show, hosted by Daniel Harford, and Racing Pulse, helmed by Michael Felgate, will be shelved under the new Hutchison-led entity once the $3.25 million deal to acquire the station is completed.

Gareth Hall’s Giddy Up racing news program will replace Racing Pulse while SEN’s breakfast shows featuring Australian Rules football identities Kane Cornes, David King, Tim Watson and Garry Lyon will also be broadcast on RSN.

In stressing his commitment to the coverage of thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing, SEN chief executive Hutchison acknowledged the impact the changes will have on RSN’s hardcore racing-focused audience.
