The richest two-year-old race of the Victorian spring carnival will be switched to Flemington as part of a new deal between Inglis and the Victorian Racing Club.
In announcing a four-year partnership extension with the VRC, the sales company confirmed the $500,000 Inglis Banner will be run at Flemington during the week-long Melbourne Cup carnival.
The race, restricted to horses purchased through an Inglis sale, has been a support race at the Moonee Valley Racing Club’s Cox Plate day meeting.
It was first run in 2008 when Starspangledbanner made a winning debut before enjoying Group 1 success in Australia and internationally en route to a career at stud.
