Three-time Group 1-winning mare Joliestar has earned a second shot at The Everest, with her trainer Chris Waller set to run the five-year-old in his stable's slot in the $20 million race.
The Cambridge Stud-owned Joliestar, who won the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and the Kingsford-Smith Cup during a stellar autumn campaign, ran seventh in last year's edition taken out by Bella Nipotina.
The Zoustar mare has been fitted for her spring return with two Sydney barrier trials, the latest when third over 1050m at Randwick on September 3.
Waller's other likely Everest contender, four-year-old mare Lady Shenandoah, finished a luckless second first-up in the Concorde Stakes over 1000m at Randwick last Saturday.
Confirmation of Joliestar's Everest berth leaves seven slots unfilled. Hong Kong sprinter Ka Ying Rising, who won first-up with ease at Sha Tin on Sunday, is the odds-on favourite for The Everest.
