Ladbrokes goes with Private Eye as slot runner for Supernova
Bookmaker and race sponsor Ladbrokes has secured evergreen sprinter Private Eye as a headline runner for the Southside Slot Series, confirming the $12.7 million earner as its choice for the Supernova.
The Joe Pride-trained veteran joins emerging talent Need Some Luck in Ladbrokes’ two-horse team for the series staged with $1 million races at Cranbourne and Pakenham.
Need Some Luck will represent the well-known wagering brand in Saturday’s Ladbrokes Meteorite (1200m) at Cranbourne before the Supernova is run at Pakenham on December 13.
Leading Sydney jockey Nash Rawiller will continue a successful association with Private Eye at Pakenham.
Trainer Joe Pride said the Supernova was an ideal target.
“This race is the right move for him. He travels so well down to Melbourne and we actually stay at Pakenham. He’s been down twice this year and it has worked really well,” Pride said.
An eight-year-old, Private Eye claimed the PB Lawrence Stakes and the Moonga Stakes in two previous hit-and-run visits during this year’s Melbourne spring carnival.
