Magic filly O’ Ole to headline broodmare sale
O’ Ole is set to be one of the highlight lots when she goes under the hammer as an elite breeding prospect at May’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.
A member of an exclusive club to complete the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO and Gold Coast 2YO Classic double, O’ Ole will be offered as part of the draft from Attunga Stud.
The Ole Kirk filly earned close to $2 million from nine starts after being secured for $325,000 at the 2024 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, when her sire was still an unproven first‑season stallion.
She quickly repaid that faith, developing into one of the finest fillies of her year.
“The team and myself loved her from the first time we saw her,” trainer Bjorn Baker said. “She had the looks and the attitude. Right from day dot we knew we had a horse of immense ability, and she showed very early on she was fast.”
Baker said her success on the big stage came as no surprise.
“We bought her to win the Magic Millions and she was able to achieve it,” he said. “It will obviously be mixed emotions for connections when she is sold. We’ve been on a mighty ride with a great bunch of owners.”
He believes O’ Ole has all the attributes to succeed at stud.
“She has two of the big things required – speed and a great temperament,” Baker said.
“She’s a great type, well balanced, and she’ll continue to let down into a beautiful mare. I really look forward to seeing what she can produce.”
Attunga Stud’s Brian Nutt said O’ Ole would headline one of the strongest drafts he has assembled in years.
“I haven’t put together a draft like this for many, many years,” Nutt said. “Along with O’ Ole, it will include mares like champion New Zealander Legarto, Group Two winner Double Market and quality sprinter Bonita Queen. As a group, this draft will be right up there.”
