Magic Millions favourite Warwoven under injury cloud
Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Warwoven is under an injury cloud, with the odds-on chance needing to pass a second veterinary inspection early on Saturday in order to contest the $3 million race on the Gold Coast.
And the Sword Of State’s Bjorn Baker-trained juvenile stablemate Masvingo, who is also an acceptor for the 2YO Classic, also requires a veterinary clearance if she is to run in the Magic Millions feature.
Queensland stewards reported on Friday that the unbeaten Warwoven was found to be lame in the off foreleg while Zoustar filly Masvingo is lame in her near foreleg.
The pair carry the navy and gold sash silks of Ridgmont Farm, the same colours adorned by 2024 winner Storm Boy.
Baker had appeared to have a stranglehold on the 2YO Classic, but the Sydney trainer has encountered a far from smooth lead-in with his leading chances.
Paradoxium shot up the ranks after impressively winning the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic in December, but his campaign was derailed when he suffered a bout of travel sickness when heading to Brisbane prior to Christmas for a key lead-up race. The illness could rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Then Warwoven, who won at Randwick on December 20 before scoring again at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago, loomed as a logical replacement for Paradoxium and heads the betting at $1.90 on Friday.
Rachel King has been booked to ride Warwoven while Jason Collett is on Masvingo, a $34 chance in the market.
