Ciaron Maher has trained his 300th winner for the season, the fourth time in succession the premier stable has reached the milestone.

Three-year-old King Tut won his maiden over 1200m on the Pakenham Synthetic track on Monday, taking Maher’s tally for the 2024/25 season to 300.5 wins.

National premiership leader Maher has a decisive 42.5-win margin over his nearest rival Chris Waller, Sydney’s leading trainer.

The dual-state operation of Maher, who trained Bella Nipotina to win The Everest last October, also leads the national trainers’ title by prize money, with almost $59 million banked with about three weeks of the season remaining.

Maher trained 343 winners nationally last season and a career-high 347 in 2022-23 when in partnership with David Eustace.
