McDonald lands on Knightsbridge as Magic Millions ride
James McDonald will partner Tulloch Lodge colt Knightsbridge in the $3 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
McDonald has been booked for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained youngster, who raced into Magic Millions calculations with an impressive victory at his second start when returning to racing at Randwick on Saturday.
Knightsbridge was purchased for $750,000 at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by the James Harron colts partnership in conjunction with Tony Fung.
The colt is now on the fourth line of 2YO Classic betting as an $11 chance behind the $2 favourite Warwoven.
Waterhouse has claimed the Magic Millions 2YO Classic a record five times, winning with Assertive Lad (2000), Excellerator (2001), Dance Hero (2004) and Driefontein (2012), before adding another success alongside Bott with Storm Boy two years ago.
McDonald will also be in action at the Gold Coast this Saturday, highlighted by his booking for the Kelly Schweida-trained colt Grafterburners, the $3.50 favourite for the $3 million Sunlight slot race at the twilight meeting.
