Racing WA has confirmed that midweek meetings scheduled at Belmont will be relocated to Bunbury and Pinjarra as it looks to protect the Perth venue’s return to racing.
After a major setback which has prevented racing in Perth for the entire winter to date, Perth Racing confirmed this week that Belmont will return to action on July 26, as long as it passes a series of barrier trials early next week.
As a result, Bunbury will now host the meeting originally scheduled for Belmont on Wednesday, July 30, while the Bunbury meeting scheduled for the following day, July 31, will now be staged at Northam.
On August 6, the meeting originally planned for Belmont will now be moved to Pinjarra Scarpside, while the following Wednesday’s meeting at Pinjarra will now be moved back to Belmont.
“These collaborative efforts have ensured minimal disruption to the Western Australian thoroughbred racing program while Belmont Park has been out of action,” said Vinny Meens, Racing WA’s thoroughbred operations manager.
“We extend our sincere thanks to all clubs involved for their support, flexibility and commitment to the racing industry during this period.”
