Reece Goodwin has trained his 100th winner, reaching the century on his home track of Pakenham.

Smart Missile mare Missile Girl produced a sweeping run from the back under jockey Beau Mertens to land the overdue milestone after a sequence of placings.

A former jockey who rode on Victoria’s picnic racing circuit, Goodwin has been identified as one of the state’s emerging trainers after taking out his licence in 2021.

“We’re coming up four years in training in November and it’s been a great thrill so far, and hopefully it continues,” Goodwin told Racing.com.

Goodwin has built his success with a team of hand-me-down and online horses, with Missile Girl his latest example.

Missile Girl has won twice with three placings in five starts for the trainer.
