An ill-timed colic issue has forced Matt Laurie and Yulong’s star mare Treasurethe Moment out of the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington.

The four-year-old daughter of Alabama Express was taken to a veterinary hospital on Monday to be treated for what was described as a “mild case of colic”.
Laurie released a statement on Monday saying that while the issue would prevent Treasurethe Moment from contesting Saturday’s Group 1 feature, it was hoped her spring campaign towards the Cox Plate would remain on track.
“Unfortunately, this morning Treasure (Treasurethe Moent) had a very mild case of colic,” Laurie said.
“This was identified very quickly and out of precaution she was taken to hospital for observation.
“I can report she is in the best of care. She looks bright and her prognosis is very good.
“We will look at other race alternatives in due course, always keeping her best interests as a priority.”

Treasurethe Moment was set to start a short-priced favourite in the Makybe Diva, having blitzed her opposition in her recent racetrack return in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes.
Yulong confirmed last week she would plot a path to the Cox Plate separate from her key rival Via Sistina, who is also owned by Yulong.
