A half-brother to the 2014 Golden Slipper Mossfun has taken an important in making a name for himself after winning at Sandown.
Godtfred Kirk, trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, created a favourable impression after coming from well back over 1400m in a three-quarter-of-a-length win.
The three-year-old was having his second start after finishing unplaced in an end-of-season juvenile race at Sale.
Godtfred Kirk cost $150,000 at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale as a son of Vinery Stud’s 2024/2025 champion first-season sire Ole Kirk from the Snitzel mare Eye For Fun.

All of Eye For Fun's eight foals to race are winners. She is also the granddam of multiple stakes winner Bodyguard.
“He’s just taken a bit of time to physically and mentally mature,’ stable representative Billie Rodda told Racing.com.
In contrast, Mossfun was up and running as an early two-year-old, winning the Inglis Nursery before leading home a fillies trifecta in the Golden Slipper on a rain-affected track four starts later.
Ole Kirk’s service fee for the Australian breeding season has almost doubled to $99,000 after siring 13 individual winners in 2024/2025.
