MRC returns all three incumbents in contested committee election

Caitrin Kelly, Robyn Gray and Belinda Meyers have been re-elected to the Melbourne Racing Club Executive Committee following the club’s annual general meeting on Thursday.

The ballot featured four candidates for three positions, with Fergus Ewart challenging the three incumbents. The result means Ewart did not secure a place on the 10-member committee.

“I’m very grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me and for the opportunity to continue contributing to the Club,” Kelly said in a statement supplied to The Straight.

Kelly said she had enjoyed working with Gray and Meyers and was pleased that both would continue on the committee.

The election was the club’s first contested committee ballot since 2024. The 2025 election was uncontested, with all candidates returned unopposed.

Kelly said the committee’s attention would now return to racing and the Sportsbet Caulfield Cup Carnival.

“There is plenty ahead, but with the election now behind us, the focus turns firmly back to racing and to delivering an outstanding Sportsbet Caulfield Cup Carnival,” she said.
