New Zealand’s Highview to hold on-farm reduction sale
New Zealand farm Highview Stud will reduce stock numbers with an unreserved on-farm deplenishing sale at its Hamilton property next month as Brent Gillovic prepares to hand over the reins to the operation. .
Conducted by New Zealand Bloodstock, the March 15 sale will comprise around 50 lots, including yearlings, two-year-olds, racehorses, broodmares and mares with foals at foot.
Highview principal Gillovic said the sale reflects a transition phase for the operation as his son Kurtis takes on a greater leadership role.
“We’ve built numbers up over time, so this is a genuine reduction to bring the broodmare band back to around 30 to 40 mares before I step back,” Gillovic said.
The catalogue will feature progeny by stallions including Wrote, Santos, Divine Prophet, Sword Of State, Xtravagant, Hello Youmzain, Sweynesse and Vadamos.
The sale will begin at 1pm at Highview Stud, 1544 Kakaramea Road, Hamilton, with gates open from 10am. The catalogue will be available online at nzb.co.nz by late February, with printed versions on the day.
Online bidding will not be available, though NZB and BAFNZ agents can inspect and bid on behalf of buyers unable to attend.
