Brazilian jockey Manoel Nunes will take up contract to ride in Mauritius but has vowed to return to Australia.
An international addition to the South Australian riding ranks since relocating from Singapore last October, Nunes has accepted an offer to ride for the powerful Gujadhur stable in Mauritius.
The Mauritius racing season runs for five months and Nunes says he expects to return to Adelaide in December.
"My Australian visa is long-term. So it means I can still come back here to ride after the Mauritius season is over,” the 49-year-old told Singapore’s The New Paper.
"It wasn't an easy decision to make. I really enjoy Australian racing, especially here in Adelaide.
"This is not farewell, though. I'll definitely come back to Australia."
Nunes won the Mauritius jockeys’ premiership in 2019.
