Oaks day added to Queensland birthday celebrations
Eagle Farm Racecourse will turn maroon on June 6 as the Queensland Oaks becomes the latest major event added to a blockbuster line‑up of Queensland Day sporting celebrations.
The $700,000 Group 1 Queensland Oaks, run over 2200m, will headline the program and coincide with festivities marking Queensland’s 167th birthday.
Racegoers are being urged to don maroon for the occasion, with organisers expecting a strong show of state pride.
The Oaks joins an already packed schedule of statewide sporting showdowns across NRL, AFL and Netball.
The Broncos face the Titans at Suncorp Stadium, the Cowboys meet the Dolphins in Townsville, the Brisbane Lions take on the Suns at the Gold Coast, and the Queensland Firebirds host the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
More events are expected to be added, placing the Sunshine State “at the centre of the sporting universe” on June 6.
The race day forms part of the 2026 Queensland Racing Carnival running from May 2 to July 4, featuring more than $28 million in prize money, nine million‑dollar races and 55 black‑type features across 11 meetings.
