Perth trainer Dan Morton has a WA Guineas goal in mind for his progressive three-year-old My Authoritah who made it back-to-back wins to start the new season.
The gelded son of Western Australia's champion sire Playing God, My Authoritah settled worse than midfield before running down his rivals to win a 1400m plate race against his own age at Belmont on Saturday.
My Authoritah, an $80,000 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale graduate, had resumed with an on-pace win as a well-backed favourite 10 days earlier over 1200m on the same metropolitan track,
“As a two-year-old he showed those glimpses and attributes of just a nice horse," Morton's stable manager BJ Ryan told Racing WA.
“I was quite impressed with his first up win; nothing went to plan but he was still able to get the job done in a maiden.
“From the draw on Saturday he was able to be ridden the way he preferred to be ridden, cutting them down late.
“You saw more of what he’s capable of and hopefully he can continue elevating as he progresses."
Morton also has the unbeaten gelding King Of Light, by Earthlight, heading towards the WA Guineas after winning his two starts in July under jockey Willie Pike.
