Prague to stand at Oaklands Stud in Queensland
Former top-class juvenile and sprinter Prague will relocate to Queensland this spring, with Oaklands Stud confirming the son of Redoute’s Choice will stand on the Darling Downs in 2026.
Prague has made a promising start to his stud career, with two crops to race so far. His current juveniles include Magic Night Stakes winner Pembrey, along with two other stakes placegetters, including Czech Out who set to contest Saturday’s Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes at Morphettville.
Oaklands Stud secured Prague in a deal brokered by Magic Millions sales director David Chester, with connections optimistic about the stallion’s prospects in Queensland.
Having stood his first five seasons at Kia Ora Stud in the Hunter Valley, Prague will stand his first Queensland season this spring at a fee of $8,800 (inc GST).
“We are very excited to have Prague in Queensland from this spring,” Oaklands Stud’s Neville Stewart said.
“During his career he raced against the best with great distinction. His sectionals in a number of big races were often the best in the race. He had a great turn of foot and that was a great appeal for us.
“His second crop, who are just two, are really performing with distinction around the country. He has three black type performers already and a number of other city horses ready to take the next step.”
A multiple Group-winning two-year-old, Prague made an early impression with victories in the Canonbury Stakes at Randwick and the Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill, establishing himself among the leading juveniles of his crop.
Across a 12-start career, Prague defeated 12 individual Group 1 winners, among them King’s Legacy, Masked Crusader, Ole Kirk, September Run and Tagaloa.
Beyond his race record, Prague boasts a high-class pedigree as a son of champion sire Redoute’s Choice and is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Stratum Star. He was purchased for $1.6 million at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
