An afternoon inspection has passed the Randwick track as safe to race ahead of the Group 1 Winx Stakes meeting.

Australian Turf Club officials and Racing NSW stewards walked the course on Friday.

In keeping with a usual practice, a further inspection will take place on Saturday morning. The track is expected to remain in the heavy range.

Randwick received a further 9.4mm after a morning update but a forecast for improved weather conditions has been issued for Saturday.

Trainer Chris Waller also walked the track on Friday after admitting he could have “some tough decisions to make”.

Waller has five acceptors in the Winx Stakes. Like most of the 12 runners, Waller’s quintet are all resuming, including last year’s winner Via Sistina.
