A licensed NSW trainer who hasn’t had a starter for almost a decade has been suspended on charges relating to the condition of his registered stable.

Queanbeyan trainer Christopher Coleman received a three-month suspension following a Racing NSW inquiry into the state of horse boxes and yards in his care.

The inquiry was told that a stewards’ inspection of Coleman’s property revealed that several hazards were identified in yards and areas occupied by two thoroughbreds.

These included a trailer, a caravan, a pile of bricks, besser blocks and other building and waste materials, car wheels and exposed steel piping.

Flooring in the stables of Rockbarton Road and Sweet Treen was found to have no discernible bedding material with concrete floors.

What was described as “approximately one-foot high collection of horse manure” covered more than one-third of the stable area that housed Sweet Treen.

Coleman was also fined $200 for failing to notify the regulatory authority that another horse, Rockbarton Planet, had been retired.

Racing NSW records show that Coleman has not had a runner since October 2016 with his most recent winner coming in 2014.
